Women and shoes

10-Aug-2007

What is it with women and shoes?
I never knew myself except it seems to be hardwired into our brains to have lots of shoes (I have to admit I can't pass up a good shoe sale!)
This is a dream I had sometime ago when I was going through lot of changes in my life and finding some new directions.
In my dream I am walking along a small narrow street somewhere in a small town in the Caribbean very close to the beach, there is white sand everywhere mixed with the cobblestone streets. It is a perfect day, sunny, slightly breezy and the sky is a turquoise blue and gulls are flying overhead. I am wearing a flowing skirt or sarong and it flows with the wind about my bare legs. I look down at my feet and they are bare, this does not seem to concern me as I have a very carefree feeling and I not worried where my feet land even though I am barefoot.
I cross the street and start walking along the sidewalk in front of some small shops and enter the open doorway of one. As soon as I enter I can see there are workmen inside and this is not a shop at all but the inside is completely bare rooms being remodeled. The workmen barely notice me and allow me to pass as I go from room to room, looking for nothing in particular, just exploring as a child would.
I go through another doorway into another shop and this time they are people putting away objects on shelves, they seem to be organizing the items as they go and passing the items back and forth, they take no notice of me.
My dreams ends here, some months later I am reading some information about dream interpretation and come across the meaning of shoes or lack of in dreams.
Apparently being barefoot in a dream means you are confident and secure.

So does the want for shoes mean some desire for protection and the need for security?
